3 Ways to Get Comfortable with Feedback on Your Voice

3 Ways to Get Comfortable with Feedback on Your Voice

It feels like a millennium since your last voice lesson, and now you’re worried the only thing that’ll come out is a mouthful of dust.

Getting back into something you haven’t done in a long time can be scary, especially when it’s something you’re deeply passionate about.

Your friends and family say, “Just go for it!” But you have your doubts… Can I really do this

Believe me, you’ll be surprised by how much your vocal folds remember.

However, singing in front of others can feel incredibly vulnerable, especially if it’s “been a while,” and seeking feedback from someone you admire? That’s an even harder pill to swallow.

So, here are 3 ways to get comfortable getting feedback on your voice:

1. Take Voice Lessons with a Coach You Trust

Depending on where you live and your budget, lesson rates can range from $50 to $200+ per hour. Sure, it’s an investment, but it is 100% worth it if you can afford it.

When you find a vocal coach who makes you feel comfortable… who doesn’t make you feel bad for making a mistake… who also challenges you because they believe in you and your voice… that’s when you know you've hit the jackpot.

Tip: Our self-paced Love Your Voice Course program is a cost-affordable, judgment-free alternative to traditional vocal coaching. You can work with me as if I were right there with you and get my personal feedback on the song of your choice. (This special offer ends tomorrow at midnight PST.)

2. Go Out with Friends for a Karaoke Night

Karaoke is a fun, low-stress way to practice singing in front of people. Nobody expects you to be perfect at karaoke night, so just get up there and sing! This is a great way for singers to feel more comfortable singing in front of others, making it easier to receive feedback from a live audience in the future.

Pro Tip: Many karaoke places offer private rooms, so if you’re not ready to sing in front of a bar full of strangers, opt for a smaller, cozier setting with a few close friends and family.

3. Practice with the Singing / Straw™

You saw this coming, right? But using the Singing / Straw™ is like a chain reaction: not only does it help smooth your break, strengthen your high notes, balance your mix and more… it also boosts your confidence, too.

So you can go into your next performance, lesson, or audition without worrying about what you sound like.

There you have it – 3 ways to get back into the “sing of things” and take every ounce of vocal feedback in stride!

Hope this helps!
